Peel Earns Quicksilver Surf Team Spot After Strong Showing
Glen Peel of Destin was selected as one of 10 surfers for the International Quicksilver Surfing Team after a solid display at Satellite Beach. Peel, from Fort Walton Beach Celestial Surf and Sport, did not win but earned a place cited by Rob Willis, with 60 participants from New Jersey Texas and France, and judged by Bob Rohman. The selection hinges on good grades and positive attitudes as Quicksilver seeks clean, hard core surfers. Peel now serves as a Gulf Coast Quicksilver PR rep and calls Sandpiper Cove the current local surf hub.

Island Golf Center Open for Fall League Play Weekdays on Okaloosa Island
Island Golf Center on Okaloosa Island near Wayside Park begins fall league play September 10, then every Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday through October 29. Three six dollar per person leagues run with playoffs November 5. A Sept 4 organizational meeting is at the Island Golf Clubhouse. The center features a par three nine hole course and a 16 stall range along with Lost Lagoon miniature golf and two 18 hole courses The Sun and The Emerald.
