New 98 Paves The Way For Growth

The new U S 98 is spurring nearby land activity in Okaloosa and Walton counties. Bert Young notes eager buyers and rising values as the Kelly Trust and Henderson family hold most Walton frontage. Doug Horton of Kelly Trust says interest is high though action lags. Delchamps and Winn Dixie plan stores at the old and new highway intersection, with openings slated for late 1985 to early 1986.

Destin Woman Sentenced to 15 Years in Murder Case

Destin resident Mary Anne Adler was sentenced to 15 years in state prison for second degree murder in the shooting death of her husband, former sheriff's deputy Joel Adler. The judge ruled after neighbors testified to her devotion to family and community. Adler, 34, expressed fear for her children as she faced the penalty.
