State official explains Texas Real Estate License Act

D. Leon Harp of the State Securities Commission spoke in Co Man­che about the new act. It requires all real estate dealers and lenders to obtain a state license costing $3 per year, with licenses expiring December 31. Licensed dealers cannot share commissions with unlicensed brokers, and penalties include up to one year in jail or a fine up to $500.

Nance Family Reunion Held at Clarke Home in Comanche

The Nance sisters and their husbands gathered at the Clarke residence in Comanche on Wednesday. Attendees included Alvin Davis of Hasse and several couples who had marriage licenses filed in the old courthouse. Many guests reside across Comanche County and nearby towns.

Mrs. R. F. Butler Dies At Hasse

Mrs. R F Butler died at the home of her son Henry Butler in Hasse after a long life born in 1858. Funeral services were held Friday October 13 at the Baptist Church of Hasse conducted by A C Nance with interment in Sardis Cemetery. She leaves six children including Mrs Lon Davis Mrs Claude Harris Henry Butler and Mrs Andy Brown plus sixteen grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.

Texas Tech Shows Enrollment Gain

Texas Tech, Lubbock reports an enrollment increase of 10.9 percent this fall versus 1938, with 3,890 total students. Agriculture up 12.7 percent to 533. arts and sciences 2,000-plus. home economics 462. engineering 891. graduates up 3 percent.

Blanket F F A trip to Dallas Fair for members and candidates

On October 7 at 3 o clock thirty Blanket Future Farmers left Blanket for the Dallas Fair. They were accompanied by the two candidates for Chapter Sweetheart. The group toured the fair, enjoyed the carnival and lighter attractions, then returned at six o clock. The trip was organized by their teacher Mr. Logan and praised as enjoyable and profitable.

Davis Mountain Ranchman A J Tippit Dies at 76

A. J. Tippit, 76, ranchman from the Davis Mountain area and owner of Mitre Peak north of Alpine, died in a Temple hospital. He operated irrigation from a spring on his property, and was active in the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association. Funeral was held in Alpine. Survivors include his widow, a daughter Mrs. Guy Caldwell of Albany, and two sons Ralph of Alpine and Ray Tippit of Medina.

Santa Fe Carloadings Show Rise in Week Ending Oct 14

Santa Fe system carloadings for the week ending October 14 reached 23 165, up from 22 812 a year earlier according to an announcement from Galveston. Cars received from connections totaled 6 807, up from 6 316, and total cars moved were 29 972, up from 29 128. The preceding week saw Santa Fe handle 30 643 cars.

Mrs Sim Brown Buried At Indian Gap Cemetery

Mrs Sim Brown 54 died at a Hamilton hospital after an illness. Funeral services were held at Indian Gap Cemetery with Rev Walter Scott officiating. She lived in Indian Gap and was a native of Comanche County, daughter of the late Mr and Mrs W R Waldrop. She is survived by her husband a married son in Valley Mississippi and a 13 year old daughter.

Fire Destroys Home of Mr and Mrs Dennis Mc Glothlin

Relatives and friends learned last week that the residence of Mr and Mrs Dennis Mc Glothlin near De Leon was destroyed by a fire. No further details were provided about the cause or extent of losses.

Community Quilting Club Hosts Dinner and Anniversary Gift

White Point reports the Community Quilting Club met with Mrs. John Waring last Wednesday for a noon dinner. The club presented Mrs. Sam Buckmaster a chenille bedspread for her fiftieth wedding anniversary on Oct. 5.
