Farewell Party For Thrasher and Montgomery Families

Members of the Christian church held a lawn party on the church lawn in Comanche to honor Mr. O C Thrasher and family and Mr and Mrs George Montgomery and family who are moving to Las Vegas New Mexico and Ozona. The pastor Ben F Hearn spoke and gifts were given. Croquet games and refreshments followed with Chas. Schoulers of Ozona as a guest.

Newburg 4-H Club Holds July Short Course Plan

Fifteen members gathered at John Pogue's house for a meeting of the Newburg 4-H Club with Mrs. W H Barton and J A Barton present. Ice cream and cake were served after. The club will send Miss Maurice Boykin and Mr Bassett Burton to the Short Course, and the next meeting is scheduled for July 8 at the local leader's home.

Local Church Schedule and Social Notes

Rev Wallace of Proctor filled his regular appointment last Saturday and Sunday. We have three churches here with meetings on the second third and fourth Sundays. Everyone is invited to attend church. Mr and Mrs Roy Tubbs entertained the young people with a musical last Thursday night. Rev Cox took his wife to Brownwood last Friday for medical examination. Mr Elliott of Dublin was here visiting George Wilks last Saturday. Tom Lane of Cotton Grove was here Thursday to rent him a place. He said he did not realize he liked this place so well until he moved away a year ago. Uncle Dan Ross of Comanche spent Saturday night with his sister Mrs F M Powers.
