Amerado Petroleum spudded the first of seven wells east and northeast of Sipe Springs on Adams Brothers land section 42. The well begins at 10 am June 27 and aims for 750 feet or more, with others on Earl Morris T K Rhea Banes Waring Pruits and Adams lands. Drilling plans seek to test an oil structure regarded as a good bet by Curtis Stephens geologist.

Auto crash leaves two men hurt near Palace Filling Station
Wade Kendrick sustained minor bruises and Gus Meyers suffered severe head cuts in a three o clock collision on Dublin highway one block east of the Palace Filling Station. Their Ford sedan crossed Dublin street and hit C. H. Herpst Studebaker, oil man of Abilene, en route to Brownwood. The impact spun Meyers from the Ford, breaking a telephone post. he was knocked unconscious.
