Evel Knievel quits after Wembley crash
Evel Knievel announces retirement after a 100 mph crash attempting to jump 13 London buses at Wembley Stadium. The 34 year old stuntman suffered a crushed vertebra, a damaged spine, a fractured hand and bruises, but left the field to cheers and was taken to a private hospital. He had earlier sought permission to jump the River Thames but was refused.
