Nebraska survey finds 1 in 10 bikes have no brakes
A UPI report from Omaha says a Vorn husker Motor Club survey of over 2,000 bicycles in 11 Nebraska communities found one in ten bikes lacked brakes and half needed some repair. The study also noted improper signaling and toy like attitudes toward bikes among children ages four to 10.

Vietnamese doctor joins Albion medical effort in Nebraska

State Board of Equalization Meets June 6 in Neb
The State Board of Equalization will meet June 6 to consider raising Nebraska's individual income tax from 10 to a limit of 12 percent as directed by a law passed this session. Governor Exon favored 13 percent but lawmakers set a 12 percent ceiling and mandated the meeting. The bill was signed by the governor Tuesday.

Students seize US aid compound in Laos freeing three Americans
In Vientiane the US aid compound was relinquished by student demonstrators and Communist troops who freed three Americans, including Marines Donald Wilburn and Roger Murphy, and William Darden after a week inside. The action accompanies plans to end the 20 year Laos aid program on June 30 as staff are told to inventory and turn over equipment. Christian Chapman called the seizure outrageous.
