Columbus High graduate Steve Jol earned a share of the outstanding Athlete Award at the Northeast Nebraska Track Classic in Norfolk. Jol tied Curt Munson of Norfolk for the top honor and won gold in the long jump 224 inches and triple jump 432 inches, anchoring the second place 440 relay. Tim Munson won 440 gold in 52.3 seconds and bronze in the 220 at 5.2 seconds, also on the 440 relay. Rathkamp and Tremain joined the relay squad, with Rothkamp taking third in the intermediate triple jump and Tom Munson third in the intermediate long jump.
