Omaha pools fail inspections over fencing violations
About half of Omaha area apartment complex and private club pools failed initial inspections by the Douglas County Health Department. Chief John Burleigh said many violations involved missing or improper fencing, with about 80 percent initially noncompliant from 175 pools, now down to 50 percent. Pools remain closed until compliant, and noncompliant operators risk losing next year’s permits. Burleigh cited one drowning last year in an improperly fenced pool, with many close calls noted.
