Two Youths Die in Fiery Nebraska Crash Near Columbus
In Nebraska near Columbus, three young men were riding in a car that lost control and burst into flames after crossing a guard rail and hitting the Loup Canal bridge. Roy L. Forney and Myron J. Byam, both 18 from David City, died. Alan Patocks, 17, was hospitalized with neck and head injuries. A mobile home accident at the scene involved Pauline Mangelsen and others, causing injuries. A second fatality, Barbara Ann Huettner, 27, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, previously Humphrey, died Friday after a motorcycle collision near the Kansas border. Mediation Sought by Moluccan Gunmen Harbored Hostages
In Assen Netherlands South Moluccan gunmen holding 60 hostages in a school and train pressed for mediation for the first time. First hint of Christmas signals July toy drive

The Institute for Development of Educational Activities announced that Columbus City School Superintendent Fred Bellum Jr. is selected for a week-long national seminar this summer. The 1977 IDEA Fellows Institutes offer grounding in emerging problems in elementary and secondary education with themes on Critical Issues in Education. Twenty nationally prominent leaders will address participants and small groups will discuss crisis in education. The program has seen about 4,500 educators participate since its start.
