Five year highway plans list Platte County projects
A $3 million fiscal year 1978 highway program released by the State Department of Roads lists two Platte County projects in U S 81 Columbus Platte Center nine point six miles surfacing shoulders at four hundred twenty four thousand dollars and U S 91 Albion Lindsay fourteen point seven miles surfacing at seven hundred eighty five thousand dollars. The plan also includes Petersburg south six point four miles resurfacing for three hundred twenty thousand dollars and extensive five year projects across Boone Platte and surrounding counties totaling hundreds of millions.

NPPD seeks extension for air pollution control upgrades
Representatives of the Omaha Public Power District and the Nebraska Public Power District asked the State Environmental Control Council for more time to install air pollution control equipment. The requests were part of six extensions debated at a public hearing, covering the July 31, 1976 deadline for outstate Nebraska and the July 31, 1975 deadline for the Lincoln and Omaha areas, with other requests from Istea Cement at Superior Gooch Milla of Lincoln and the City of Fremont utilities section at Lincoln Electric.

Discover Columbus Days Festival Planned for Oct 10–12
A three day Discover Columbus Days festival is being organized by the Discover Columbus Taya committee of the Columbus Area Chamber of Commerce. Plans include a Grand Ball crowning a King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella, a Saturday parade and horse show, block dancing, band concerts, art shows, food booths, a downtown carnival, and Sunday events.
