Columbus man traces German roots on ancestral journey
Irene OBrien recounts Rickert Jewelers owner Rickert and his wife Mary visiting Germany to trace the family tree from 1584 lineage through Voss Wendt Wilke and Groteluschen roots. They met hosts in Oldenburg Apen and Grossenknetten, saw churches and cemeteries, learned language basics, rode autobahn style roads, and visited Neuschwanstein Heidelourz and Biel. Miss Kris Saalfeld announces additional events for Discover Columbus Days to be revealed next Friday. Four locked treasure chests will be opened with contents shared to the audience. A noon luncheon hosted by the Columbus Area Chamber of Commerce at Holiday Inn is open to the public. The event runs in October with Betty as a participant.
