Bounty Returns to Key West After Cuban Seizure
American lobster boat Bounty sailed into Key West with skipper Nicholas DeNicholo and cook Sheila Almquist after being seized by Cuban gunboats near Santa Lucia. They were questioned by U S authorities aboard the vessel after a two day detention. A second vessel thought to be American or Mexican was also reported forced into the harbor by Cuban authorities.

Traffic signals removed at downtown Columbus intersections
Columbus Street Department crews covered three downtown intersections as part of the Traffic Signal Modernization project. Man arraigned on nine murder counts in Waterbury
Lome Acquin age 27 faced nine counts of murder in Waterbury Connecticut for the deaths of his foster brother's wife and eight children. He made no plea and was held on 250000 bond. A further hearing was set for August as prosecutors seek more time. he was remanded to the New Haven correctional center.
