Experiments by The Renner Foundation show applying 50 pounds per acre of nitrogen on coastal forage in April June and September yields over three to one returns per dollar. Deep black soil gives 8 to 1 returns. Three applications outperform a single combined dose. Coastal should be harvested as seed heads appear and fertilized after each cut.
Notes from Your County Agent advise selecting high quality seed with clear labeling and germination data to protect yields. They warn against cheap seed that may bring weed seeds and poor variety, and urge reading fertilizer labels and following pesticide directions to prevent accidents.

Bosque County residents can access Easter Seal Society rehabilitation for physical handicaps via Bosque County Representative Helen C. Aars. The society offers speech and hearing therapy, information and referral, and operates 21 treatment centers for children and adults regardless of ability to pay. Donations to the 1968 Easter Seal Appeal are encouraged as the campaign runs through April 14.
