The Farmers State Bank in Clifton appoints Robert B. Bob Lane as Executive Chairman of the Board. Lake Whitney Anglers Report Fresh Sandies and Crappie

Lake Whitney yielded good catches this week as sandies schooled in some spots and were caught off the bottom in others. Crappie were moving into shallow water and two trotliners filled their lines with large crappie in 10 to 12 feet. A bass fisherman landed 11 blacks, including a 6 3/4 pounder. The lake level stood at 521.46, about half a foot below normal.

Bond Issue For Road District 8 Paving Seeks Voters

Bosque County Road District No 8 residents vote on a bond up to 40000 for street paving in the district between Little Rocky and Big Rocky Creeks on the west side of Lake Whitney. Polls open 7 am to 7 pm at Lake Whitney Lumber Company with transportation available by calling 622 3185.

Witcher Speaks at Medical Records Institute in Austin

Mrs. S L Witcher of Clifton spoke at a two day institute on medical records and accreditation held March 1 2 in Austin at the Villa Capri Motel. She is a registered medical records librarian at Goodall Witcher Hospital Foundation and attended as a representative from the local area.

Clifton Cub Scouts were awarded badges at a banquet held February 26 at First Kodist Church Fellowship. Clif Erwin CHS teacher spoke on responsibility, noting it grows with small tasks and practice. Bridge Proposal Draws Positive Reception In Texas

State Sen. J. P. Ward said Highway Commission members gave a good reception to a plan to convert the abandon ed Katy Railroad bridge over Lake Whitney into a highway span. Four Seek 3 Clifton City Council Seats in Filing Rush

Four candidates filed for Clifton City Aldermen three open seats as filing closed midnight March 6. Incumbents Jim B. Smith Clifford Dyer and Jean Pierson seek re election, joined by Edward B. Bryn. In Clifton ISD, Dr W F Key Jr seeks re election and Jack R Hill runs for the other trustee post vacated by S L Witcher. CHS Stage Band Places Second at Brownwood Festival

Clifton High School Stage Band finished second in Class A at the 17th Brownwood Stage Band Festival on Feb. 23, behind Kennedale and ahead of Merkel. Under Mel Cowan, the group practiced after school for two months. Judges included Matt Betton, M. E. Hall, Leon Breeden, and Ralph Multcher.

Helms to Join Temple Firm in Chupik Corp Move

Calvert G. Helms of Clifton will become assistant to the Sales Manager at the Chupik Corporation in Temple. The wholesale millwork company serves a five state region with offices in Fort Worth and San Antonio. Helms has 20 years in building materials work with O. E. Show Lumber in Clifton and will start about March 15, with the family remaining in Clifton for now.

Clifton Cub Trackmen win Dogwood Relays top honors

Clifton High School trackmen topped 30 Class A teams at the Dogwood Relays in Palestine with 6912 points though no individual wins. Key placers include Glen Haywood, Wayne Prescher, Don Hall, Robert Ledlow, Gary Anz, Conrad, Ronnie Horn, Tommy Todd, and Larry Sorenson contributing to the team’s first meet of the season. Next meets: Cotton Bowl Relays at Taylor and Valley Mills on March 16.
