United States to Buy 145000 Tons of Natural Rubber
The United States will purchase 145000 long tons of natural rubber from Britain, France and Holland for 23.5 cents per pound in the second half of the year. Britain will reopen the Malayan market and pay a similar price for all available rubber, with grades priced by differential. The deal, under the Rubber Development Corporation, aims to ease shortages amid high production costs and will be routed to American manufacturers through government outlets.
