Gerald Campbell aged 25 of Gladwin county was arrested by Officers Hanley and Upthegrove after breaking a Dunlop Bar door glass. Trappers and farm boys prepare for the three month trapping season starting November 1. Weather worries linger after drought and low water affected muskrat numbers and habitat. Muskrat pelts last year totaled under 600 000, mink 53 400 pelts sold at strong prices, raccoon numbers rising with 1944 and 1945 yields around 70 000 and 88 700, while skunk and badger yields remained low. Trapping dates vary by region with muskrat and mink open November 1 to 30 in the upper peninsula, mid November to mid December in northern lower, and December 1 to 31 in southern Michigan, plus an extra January 31 in Lake Erie Marshes. Raccoon seasons differ by county and zone, with none on opossum.

Three Fatally Hurt in Accidents Near Here This Week
Several tragic burns and fires occur in nearby towns including Farwell and Coleman. Dorotha McCumber, 13, died from third degree burns after kerosene ignited in a stove fire at Farwell, with her funeral held in Surrey township cemetery. Mrs. Ethel Eaton, 59, of Coleman, burned fatally when kerosene started a fire and exploded, despite a passerby’s attempt to smother flames. Arthur Potter, 14, remains in critical condition after kerosene misused in a heating stove caused an explosion at his parents’ Coleman home.
