Grouse Hunting Prospects Improve in Upper Peninsula
Grouse outlook shows improvement in the upper peninsula for this fall versus last year with little change expected in the northern lower peninsula. Population estimates rely on rural carriers and field workers with August counts. spring weather delayed hatch but less so for grouse than pheasants. Sharptail counts fell about 10 percent in the U P, to be reflected this fall, while overall sharp-tail populations remain stronger than ruffed grouse in recent years.
