Michigan tightens meat sale and display rules
New state law in Michigan, effective September 27, increases controls on advertising display and storage of meat and meat products. It bans misleading terms like prime or choice unless matched to actual quality and prohibits USDA labeling without a government grade. Refrigerated products must stay at or below 50 degrees, and inspectors recently seized canned hams kept at room temperature.

Prices for Michigan corn fall in 1956 57 year
Prices paid to Michigan farmers for corn fell from late 1956 through 1957 due to three factors. Large CCC non stored corn sales and loan redemptions combined with a strong growing season kept prices near $1.08 to $1.16 per bushel. New crop corn may average about 95 cents dry, with moisture discounts. Some seasonal rise expected if CCC reduces sales.
