Joe Johnston Elected Clare High Student Council President
The May 7 secret ballot elected Joe Johnston president of the Clare High Student Council for the next year. Johnston has served on the council and previously held treasurer duties. Jim Richardson and Johnston were the two petition candidates. Richardson led sophomores and juniors, Johnston juniors. Don Cappaert departs after a fine year.

Tennis finals planned for regional match at Central Michigan College
The regional tennis meet is set for May 24 at Central Michigan College in Mt. Pleasant. Contenders from Clare include Wilbur and Willard Ireland Bud Rodabaugh Don Cappaert and Bob Samborn. They previously lost to Gladwin 4 2 on May 9 and we wish them luck in the regional contest.

School picnics set for June 5 at four sites
Wenonah Beach and Budd Lake host the annual school picnics. Juniors and Seniors go to Wenonah Beach in Bay City, Freshmen and Sophomores to Budd Lake in Harrison, seventh and eighth to Harrison, and sixth to kindergarten to Clare High School. Picnics occur on June 5.

Seniors Set Sail on May Trip to Mackinac Island
The class of 747 will depart May 21 by bus to Detroit then train to Chicago, tour the city, sail the boat to Mackinac Island on May 22, spend the day there, return to Chicago by boat, and finish with a train to Detroit and bus home. Evening shipboard ballroom dancing ends the voyage.

Timids Go Wild at Clare High Seniors Dress Up
Clare High School seniors of 1947 hosted a dress-up day that brought wild costumes including sailors babies clowns and more. The event surprised longtime faculty and students with its playful transformation of the normally calm seniors.

Clare High Pioneers Track Season Concludes
The regional track contest was held May 17 at Central Michigan College in Mount Pleasant. Competitors included Carncross in the 440 yard dash Cov eart and Holbrook in the 100 and 200 yard dashes McNerney in high and low hurdles and broad jump Krell in the half mile Busche and Creguer in shot put. Results were not obtainable at press time.

Freshman Fun Night Goes Rolling At Pleasant Mount
The Freshman class and chaperones Miss Crawford and Mr Blanchard attended a student half term social at Pleasant Mount Monday night. School bus transportation and excitement led to a flat tire but the event ended with a rolling good time for all attendees.
