Clare's latest industrial project on Maple Street features a fireproof three firm complex built around West Fourth Street. It includes Moline Construction Ackerman Plumbing & Heating and Seiter Electric with a 15 000 square foot section and a central heating plant using a large Pacific steam boiler and a 5 000 gallon underground fuel oil tank. The Seiter Electric showroom 20 by 36 feet showcases small appliances lighting fixtures and large wall and ceiling displays while Ackerman Plumbing occupies 2 000 square feet with a 25 by 25 foot sales room and adjacent offices.

George Wisler Wins High Honors at Grand Rapids Bowling Meet
George Wisler, a noted local bowler, led the Northern District to victory in the Michigan Consolidated Gas Company ninth annual inter district tournament at Grand Rapids May 3. He totaled 1166 for six games, won the all events championship, and earned the gas company outstanding bowler trophy and the 20th Century trophy. Wisler’s 1166 was near the top in singles. L Byers won doubles with 1164, aided by F Barker 996. Wisler’s partner J Humphries posted 993.

Infant killed in car accident near Clare
Susan McPherson twenty months old, daughter of Mrs. Presley’s sister, died Tuesday morning after being run over by his car in the Presley home yard three miles east of Clare on old US 10. The baby was taken to Clare Hospital and died on arrival. Funeral services were held in Harrisville.

Clare High School Sixteenth Annual Spring Concert
Clare High School presented its sixteenth annual spring concert in the auditorium under band instructor Harold Collins. The Junior Band of 22 performed three selections, the Senior Band of 42 played two overtures and two marches, with solos and baton twirling by students including Joanne Richard and David Holt. Clare Teacher Critic For Ginn Latin Text Book
Richard Blanchard a Clare High School language instructor wrote Latin in the School Curriculum for the Michigan Ed vocational Journal April issue. He surveys Latin teaching from 1892 to present and criticizes modern methods while suggesting improvements. Ginn & Company Boston consulted Blanchard and asked him to complete a questionnaire for a new edition of their Latin text. He was one of five Michigan teachers using the Ginn text surveyed.

Accused Man Admits Guilty In Circuit Court
Marion Sanderson pleaded guilty before Judge John C. Shafer in Clare County Circuit Court on the information for in cest and statutory rape. He was remanded to the sheriff, referred to a probation officer for investigation, and will be returned to circuit court for sentence. Eddie Ellis and Stanley Woodman, both 16, waived exams on a Buick theft case and were bound over for investigation with expected June 26 sentencing. Burton Phillip Allen a longtime resident of this area died at his Grant township home after years of ill health since 1936. Born August 22 1857 in Adrian Michigan he lived in Mt Morris Union township Isabella county Gilmore township and Clare before moving to Grant township. He was 89. Funeral Thursday May 8 at his home with Rev Chas B Hahn and interment in Cherry Grove cemetery. He leaves a wife a son Elmer a daughter Alta six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

New Dodge fire truck joins Clare Department equipment fleet
The Clare Fire Department received a new Dodge fire truck with a 400 psi pumper, 500 gallon water capacity, two 150 ft sections of high pressure hose, fog and solid stream nozzles, river pump capability, and multiple extinguishers and ladders. The $8,000 purchase aims to sustain low insurance rates and meet Michigan safety standards. Fire Chief James Clute coordinated with Detroit and Grand Rapids officials for planning. this marks the fifth motorized truck since 1921.
