Michigan Musky Experiment Seeks Wild Range Expansion
Michigan conservation officials pursue a musky rearing program to establish the big game fish in more lakes. Despite 400000 muskies hatched at Wolfe Lake and Drayton Plains, there is no guarantee of success as pike predators and spring spawning timing challenge survival. The department plans further plantings in southern lakes and will monitor water temperature vegetation and food availability to determine if muskies can be established statewide.
