Progress On Pike Experiment Advances In Michigan Fisheries
Michigan's pike musky walleye experiment moves to its second phase as state hatcheries report sufficient broodstock of all three species. Brine shrimp fry food is used for newly hatched fish, with experimental plantings planned across waters to study outcomes relative to other fish. Last year's losses informed this year's gains, including 125,000 walleyed pike and 4,500 northern pike reared.
