Representatives from Congregational Church Church of God Seventh Day Adventist and Methodist met at Mrs Clayton Nef home on January 12 to discuss plans for the World Day of Prayer service to be held at the Methodist Church February 9 at 8 00 pm. Mrs Myrtis Allen chaired the meeting. The event is sponsored by the United Council of Church Women in America with prayers from 92 nations for peace and Christian unity.
A special service at the Congregational Church last Sunday installed twelve new stewards and officers for church departments and Sunday school. Rev. Olson preached "A Wide Awake Church" urging focus on Christ’s goals and unity in Christian work. The sermon stressed soul saving and cooperation for God given church success as the choir and Mr Collins provided music to a large congregation.
Details completed for a Christian Workers Training School at Clare Baptist Church opening next Wednesday night at 7 30. The twelve week course is run by the Evangelical Teachers Training Association of America with Rev R T Burgess as approved instructor. Certificates are awarded for unit completion and six unit graduates receive credit toward Christian service and training toward college study. The motto is Train the Christian Service Teacher as thoroughly as the public school teacher. Open to all interested in training for Christian service and teaching.
Dale Beavers Gordon Burton and Everett Green spent the weekend in Flint on furlough from the Army. Children enjoyed a coast ing party on Beavers hill Friday night with Karen Stephison treating them to popcorn. Families visited and hosted games and a card party at Greenwood Grange. Irene Root married Friday and will reside near Midland.
