Mrs. Winifred Reeder of Clare receives official notice that her son Cpl. James A. Reeder was killed in action in Korea on July 16 1950 after being previously reported missing. Reeder served with the 19th Infantry Regiment 24th Division and had a long Army career from 1948.

Blood Donation Clinics To Aid Korea War Effort In Clare
Miss Ann McMechen of the American Red Cross announces Michigan Health blood donor clinics in Clare on February 11 and 12. Blood drawn will be credited to Clare county and used for Armed Forces in Korea, with replacement plasma provided locally. Donors aged 18 to 60, weight at least 110 pounds, in good health, may give. Local clinics run February 12 and 13 from 2:00 to 2:00 p.m. every healthy adult should donate four pints annually.

Lou Alger son of Clare pioneers died December 27 in Palo Alto California. He is survived by his wife and two cousins Howard Ghick Brown and Mrs Homer Douglas of Clare. He was laid to rest in California.

Injured Farmer Falls From Ladder At Clare Dairy Barn
Elderly worker Ray Clark of Rolling Acrag dairy farm north of Clare on US 27 fell from a barn ladder Monday. He struck his head on a manger and was stunned. Local doctors found no skull injury after examination at Central Michigan Community Hospital. He was discharged Thursday after treatment for severe shock and bruises and is recovering satisfactorily.

Two Clare Boys Hurt In Coasting Accident
Two Clare youths injured last week when a sled struck a truck a mile east of Clare. William Cook suffered skull and shoulder injuries. Bob Artibee received bruises. Both are recovering. Cook was moved to Central Michigan Community Hospital and released later. The truck driver Floyd Shively reported locked wheels at the intersection.

Five Clare men join the Midland Dow Chemical Co project building a 200 plus foot hypersorber tower. The 275 ton structure uses twin steel legs, six 1 inch cables, and open elevator conveyance to 200 feet. Erection by Austin Construction Co ends in June with workers Richard Johnson, John Schroeder, Clayton Hardman, Jerome Flood and Harold Stephens on site.

Two Pay Fines For Reckless Driving And Disorderly Conduct
William McFarland of Coleman was arrested December 24 by State Police for reckless driving on US-10 in Clare. He pleaded guilty in Municipal Court and was fined 28.50 dollars. Doss Jones of Clare was arrested Saturday night by City Police for being drunk and disorderly in the streets. He pleaded guilty, paid 25 dollars, and was placed on days probation.
