Irving Brown Receives Certificate From Michigan State
Tuesday of last week Irving Brown was presented the Certificate of Achievement by Mr. W. B. Tichenor. The certificate, sent by Michigan State College of Hast Lansing, recognizes his work in the Dairy Club for 1930 in Clare county. He also earned a trip to St. Louis for the National Dairy Exposition. Thursday Mr. Tichenor and twelve boys motor to Hast Lansing for Farmers Week meetings and exhibitions of grain and animals.

Winners in Crops Contest Named at Farm Meeting
Michigan farmers who excelled in corn beans and sugar beets during 1930 were named Farmers Week winners of production contests overseen by the Michigan farm crops department. About two hundred people from Harrison and nearby Clare County areas attended the Gerrish Higgins consolidated school dedication in Roscommon. The two day program featured athletics, music by the Grayling Municipal Band and Harrison High School Orchestra, speeches by school leaders, and organized committee work. Houghton Lake won the basketball honors as part of the event.

The Clare Good Literature Club met at Mrs. Dewey Paxton’s home on February 8 for its annual banquet and officer election. After a dinner the group heard songs from a fifth grade sextette and a piano solo by Miss Doris Gerow. The club voted to donate ten dollars and fifty cents to glasses for schoolchildren.
