Friendly Neighbor Club Pieced Quilts at Clare Meeting
The Friendly Neighbor Club met at Mrs. Lola Rulapaugh’s home four and a half miles east of Clare. Eight members attended an all day event with pot luck at noon, quilt block sewing, a business meeting, and games. Prizes went to Mrs. Eva Nowlen first, Mrs. Ramey second, and Mrs. Rulapaugh last. Margaret Briggs invited members to her Vernon Hill home September 1 for another all day meeting.

The W.S.C.S. held a fall season opening picnic at Mr. and Mrs. Theo Wallington’s home with members and guests. Rev. Charles B. Hahn gave grace, ice cream was served, and Miss Mildred Stirling spoke about two years teaching in the Hawaiian Islands and local geographic and schooling details. The program titled Thy Way in Hawaiian Islands guided the event with a next meeting planned for September 8 in church parlors with a luncheon and Porto Rico focus.
