Walton-Rosebush 4-H Club shines at Mt Pleasant Youth Fair

Walton-Rosebush 4-H Club claimed second place in the parade float at the Mt Pleasant Youth Fair. Judges praised the green and white float showing canning, cooking, gardens, dairy, farm crops, and horse showing. Members and leaders Mrs Earl Grace and Mrs Jake Bech dell guided a versatile display with many awards across Canning Beef and Dairy calves Poultry Flowers and Open class events. Arlo House led with a fourth in rodeo riding Bonnie Grace's saddle horse.

Woman's Christian Temperance Union Meets August 10th

A summer meeting of the Woman's Christian Temperance Union was held August 16 at Mrs. Ivan Graham's home with President Mrs. Jeark Uder Kirk presiding. Devotions led by Chaplain Mrs. John An fon featured a poem Live As You Pray. Music by Mrs. Floyd Seiter and the Hayes sisters of Arden Ont included Silver Thread Among the Gold. Ten members and several visitors attended. A pavilion gathering is planned for September 14 at Memorial Field with Mt. Pleasant Union guests and tea in the afternoon.

Free Movies at Memorial Field Saturday Night

A free moving picture show at Memorial Field on Saturday night August 21 features Robinson Crusoe a short comic strip and an unusual Conservation Department film from Virginia. The documentary highlights old Virginia churches their history music and the colors of the south including the Washington church and the Patrick Henry speech site among others.

Canadian Guests Entertained Here During Past Week

Mrs Norman Steele and daughter Louella of Brampton Ontario visited Flint area guests and toured Central Michigan College. The party, hosted by multiple local families, attended the Isabella Youth Fair at Mr Pleasant and were guests of the Chapmans near Auburn before traveling to Ithaca and Lansing.

Standard Church Plans Evangelistic Meetings in Tent

A large tent north of Lehr Implement has been set up for two weeks of evangelistic services by the Standard Church. The Rev George Oldford of Kingston Ontario will speak each evening at 7 45 except Saturdays. Oldford leads the churchs evangelistic work in the United States.

Walton School Reunion Draws Crowd In Pavilion

Former pupils gathered at Memorial Field pavilion last Saturday for the Walton reunion with 49 attendees. Willard Chapman of Midland was re elected president and Mrs Lloyd Spaulding kept her secretary post. A pot luck dinner followed a brief business session.
