Mrs. Guy Clements was feted with a surprise baby shower Monday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Hanes. Co hosts served, games were played, and a pink and blue basinet filled with gifts was presented.
A four day meeting marks Thanksgiving for the recently remodeled church edifice. Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock the Reverend N. T. Burks, pastor, will lead services. Acknowledgments and upcoming programs are planned.
Board votes to send Robert A bel, manager of the local office, to the East Texas Chamber of Commerce annual short course in Tyler on November 18 and 19. Course topics include mutual problems, new ideas on chamber projects, and observations of office publications and bookkeeping systems.
Thomas high school overseer C L Sadberry Jr led Thursday night events while Reverend A W Ray officiated Friday night, with both sessions in the Lincoln District Association setting.
The Name Committee For October Round Up gathered Thursday evening at the IOOF Hall to discuss planned activities.
Acme Atlas Vim announces an extensive profit sharing program for its 350 plus employees across 15 stores in nine states. Plan, effective October 1 1954, offers equal participation from all ranks and matching employer contributions, with one year eligibility and beneficiary protections. The chain began in 1947 in Jacksonville Florida and now reports over 5 million dollars in annual volume.
The Central Texas Odd Fellows held their first Round-Up with a buffet supper set after the lodge festivities at 8 p m. Entertainment committee members named were Russell Wilson Rip Woods and Albert Edmonds. All refreshments were provided by Cameron Lodge.
Dr. L. N. D. Wells of Dallas will preach at the Christian Church Revival October 11 through October 17. Mrs. H. L. Blanton of Waco, formerly Lorene Wade of Cameron, will lead the singing. Wells, ex minister of East Dallas Christian Church with 3 000 members, has a record of missionary support. Reverend Harsh Brown praised the week's services as richly rewarding.
Mrs. Mary Arthur was installed as president of the Martha Class of the First Baptist Church at the Oct 5 meeting hosted by Mrs. Rachel Fuqua. Aubrey Russell served as installing officer. other officers include Rachel Fuqua vice president Thelma Ray Barrett social vice president Kathleen Heft assistant social vice president Lillie McWilliams secretary treasurer Josephine Leonard reporter. Marie Franklin gave the devotional as seventeen members attended.
Cameron’s Knights of Columbus Council will receive Holy Communion in a body with Boy Scout Troop 52. Cub Scouts and Prownies will join the 8 o'clock Mass on Sunday October 10 at St Monica’s Church. Breakfast follows at Simon George Hall. An October 14 meeting at 8 pm will discuss Columbu s Day Program with Reverend Tim Valenta as guest speaker. Refreshments after.
