Principal Loughmiller notes daily service of 225 youngsters at the Ben Milam Cafetorium where teachers oversee groups and work on eating habits cleanliness and social graces. The twofold space seats 200 with extra room and doubles as an auditorium. Meal tickets cost 1.00 per week or 25 cents daily.
LaVega edges Yoe in final half 20 to 7, leaving Yoemen with three straight losses. Next Friday they face an undefeated Roos, as District 22AA reshuffles continue to affect Cameron and nearby teams.
The local Farmers Home Administration Office received 58 emergency feed applications in September for Milam and Burleson Counties. Of these, 13 were for hay totalling 202 tons and 45 were for grain requesting 634000 pounds. County Supervisor Roy Wright noted the count includes both counties and that 12 day applications were approved.
The local Volunteer Firemen set aside forty five dollars for poster contest winners at Ada Henderson Elementary Yoe High and O J Thomas schools this week J H Anders reports. Caldwell obituary notes Mrs. J. O. Schiller dies at 93 in Caldwell. Funeral at Czech Moravian Church. she leaves five sons, three daughters, 14 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. A Cameron Chamber committee outlined Yee High and O J Thomas high school career day plans and a November national education week. The Education Committee urged businessmen to engage with public schools and student plans as a survey of high schoolers is planned.
Milam County gears up for a deep oil well project by the Texas Gulf Sulphur Company of Houston. The 8000 foot well marks the second deep strike in the area after the See Well.

Mrs. Nappie Swanzy 82 of Ben Arnold died Friday while visiting Port Arthur. Funeral services are Sunday at 2 p.m. from Marek-Burns Funeral Chapel with Rev. E. A. Benford officiating. Survivors include sons L. A. Swanzy H. B. Swanzy T. B. H. A. BE. A. and A. B. and Joe Swanzy. daughter Mrs Homer McCullum. sisters Mrs J. F. Swanzy and Mrs Homer Reed. 29 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Ennis W. Montgomery Sr. 67, were held in Orange Texas. He owned the Sabine Coffee Company and the Steak and Shake Restaurant and had lived in Orange for 40 years. Survivors include his wife Laura, daughter W M Rutledge, son W E Montgomery Jr., three sisters and three grandchildren.
