Milam County 4-H noted strong showings at the District 8 Contest. Patsy Stephens won first in demonstration on funding a college education and Betty Margaret Orr took second in Clothing education. both will advance to the State 4-H Roundup June 1–3 at College Station. Junior division winner Kathy Harris of Thorndale Oil Club earned a red ribbon for second place in Junior Foods and Nutrition with How Will You Ever Get Milk in Your Diet.

Milam County Sub-committee on Aging will be honored as the first county group organized after the Governor's Committee on Aging was created.
