Georgia peach crop to top 6,200 cars in 1938
Athens, May 20. Georgia's 1938 commercial peach crop will be more than 200 percent greater than last year but less than half of the 1931 juniper crop, according to the U S Department of Agriculture Bureau at the State College of Agriculture. The crop is estimated at about 6,200 cars, up from 2,024 cars last year, with the 1931 peak of 12,586 cars not reached. Favorable weather except for a cold spell, yet overall planting declines and low prices after the 1931- crop reduced new plantings and the total output.
