Five men including Doc Carl Lindsey M G Loftin and others claim a large catch in the Okefenokee swamp near Fargo Georgia. Conflicting reports make total fish unclear yet they boast of roughly a barrel on the way by railway express. They allege a fish overtook the others causing a boat fire and many catches were so large they had to return some to the river. Bids requested for mail transport service between Butler and Central road trains.

Mass Meeting on New Farm Relief Bill Discussed

About 200 farmers gathered with the county agent on May 20 to learn how the new Farm Relief bill affects Federal Land Bank borrowers and mortgage holders. The discussion covered interest reductions to 4.5 percent for five years, loan refinancings, bond provisions, and conditions for foreclosures and new loans. The agent offered assistance with applications for these federal mortgages and explained refinancing options for existing loans.

Poultry Car Sells Leghorn Fryers and Hens May 81st

A poultry sale is planned next Wednesday at Reynolds from 10 to 12 and Butler from 1 to 4:30 led by W. A. Lundy county agent. Leghorn fryers priced 11 to 18 pounds at 14 to 18 cents, colored fryers 16 cents, colored hens 8 cents, Leghorn hens 7 cents, roosters 6 cents. Large tonnage expected from Taylor county due to many fryers and cull hens.

Butler High School closes with record graduating class

The Butler High School year ends with the largest attendance and a 45 member graduating class. Diplomas will be awarded to a list of named graduates at ceremonies featuring a baccalaureate sermon by Rev. H.G. Hobbs and piano recitals by Mrs. Julian Edwards and Sara Cox. Mrs J H Thornton Dies Near Reynolds After Brief Illness

Mrs Mattie Brown Thornton wife of J Harria Thornton a leading Taylor County woman died at her Reynolds area home after a five week illness. Born in 1864 in Dooly County she lived in Taylor County about 42 years and belonged to Reynolds Methodist Church. Survived by husband three sons a stepson two sisters and other relatives funeral at the Thornton home with burial in Hill Crest Cemetery, Rev Wyman Huckabee officiating.

Butler Dramatic Club To Present Minstrel

The Butler Dramatic Club plans to stage Swanee Minstrels at the school auditorium. Director Miss Helen Young praises the opening rehearsal, with cast still forming as members prove their best roles. A portion of proceeds will go to the Methodist church. more details to follow next week.

Taylor County Camp Attracts State Interest And Jobs

Announcement that one of the state's seventy camps will be placed in Taylor County sparks much interest. It is understood thousands of acres of timber crest lands will be protected under the project, providing employment for more than 200 men.

Milledgeville readies for graduation week at the Georgia State College for Women with Taylor county students among the degree recipients. Names include Martha Benns, Margaret Frierson, Jessie Musslewhite, Jettie McGuffin, Clara Belle Spillers. Events run June 2 to June 6 with Class Day, Sophomore Normal Exercises, Alumnae Banquet, a sermon by Rev. J E Sammons, YWCA services, and the degree awarding ceremony led by Hon. W T Anderson.
