Steele's Store Community Club Meeting Notes

Steele's Store Community Club met Saturday night but held no regular meeting due to missing county agents. The gathering featured songs by school children and readings by Miss Mary Church and H D Cuykendall. Local residents, including Mary Church and the Perrone and Degelia families, visited Bryan for various social and business activities.

Bethel Church Services Amid Rainy Roads

In Harvey on November 26 a bright but frost morning followed heavy rain. A good congregation attended Rev. R. L. Brown at Bethel church despite poor by-roads. The pastor urged all interested to join in future services.

Thanksgiving offerings at Bethel Baptist Church

The church planned a Wednesday morning Thanksgiving collection for Buckners Orphan Home, mainly chick en gifts, with a Thursday 10 30 service announced. Rev Brown produced a sixty dollar check from Miss Onie Shaw, while Mrs Floyd Todd’s illness kept the family in town. Irvin Todd returns from Lubbock, noting weight gain and liking the city. Mrs Guy Griffin and infant visit relatives, Chester Jones and New Baden bride stay with Mrs W P Jones, and a third son joins the Weeden family amid bad weather with a six week old infant introduced yesterday.

Wheelock girls top our team in Thanksgiving basketball

Nov. 26 report notes a northerly cold front, Thanksgiving activities at the school, and Wheelock girls defeating our team 15 to 8. Students performed a Thanksgiving program with songs readings and tableaux led by multiple teachers and pupils.

Turkey crop in Brazos county seen 33 percent down

Records through November 21 show four cars of dressed turkeys shipped from Bryan versus eleven cars last year. Local and state residents insist the crop isn’t short, yet data indicate the Bryan Brazos county area is about one third under normal. This short supply should push prices up for farmers who have product to sell.

Rev Biggers Takes Full-Time Post With Free Baptists

Rev M W Biggers formerly pastor at Union Hill and part time in Norman was called to Henderson Texas to lead four Free Baptist churches including Good Hope Harp er and Compson serving about 800 members with Henderson city church home to around 50. His family moved in an emigrant car as he begins full-time duties after recent ordination at the state conference in Bryan.

Steeles Store Community Program Draws Small Yet Lively Crowd

A misunderstanding of the meeting date left Steele's Store school house with only a small crowd last Saturday night. Miss Mary Church read a Kentucky horse race themed piece, followed by H. D. Cuykendall of the Bryan Eagle who entertained both children and adults with humor and a story.

Bry an Doke y Club entertains 200 at Fun Feather outing

More than two hundred Bryan and College people enjoyed a barbecue picnic a speaking program and music at the Fun Feather Club. The Bryan D O K K Club the Knights of Pythias entertained Dokeys and guests with meals prizes dances and remarks by County Attorney Oak McKenzie and Judge W C Davis. The meal featured Jeff Cole and a large assortment of foods with plates sent to the needy afterward.
