A party of Austin business men invited Ivey Foster of Taylor as their guest. Thanksgiving Service at Cottonwood Baptist Church

A large crowd gathered at Cottonwood Baptist Church in Tabor for a Thanksgiving service. Pastor Rev. R. L. Brown delivered the sermon and an offering was collected for Buckner's Orphan Home in Dallas. Donors contributed money, 37 hens, and one turkey for shipment to the Home.

Attendance Holds Up at Junior Missionary Meeting

Sixty six juniors attended the Sunday gathering of the Junior Missionary Society at First Methodist. Ten visits to the sick, seven gifts, and 44 Bible readings were noted. Jno W Black led devotions reciting the 23rd Psalm. A program featured Mildred McKenzie piano, Robaline Smith singing Over the River and Through the Woods, and Mrs. McKenzie presenting the first lesson from Building the Americas. Attendance and offerings set a record for the week of prayer.

Two Men Die in South Side Tobacco Shop Looting Fight

In Chicago on November 27 two men were killed and two wounded in a South Side tobacco shop shootout. One dying assailant was identified as Martin Durkin, a fugitive police slayer, with Officer John Carroll and taxicab driver Ben Custer killed and Officer James Henry gravely wounded.

Serious Auto Crash Injures Ray Tittle Near Bryan

Ray Tittle of Hillsboro suffered a broken jaw in three places and possible skull base fracture when his Ford coupe collided with another car three miles north of Bryan on the Hearne road. He was taken to Bryan Hospital for X rays while his companions escaped injury. Roy Tittle 23, son of C. E. and Mrs. Tittle, worked at Farm National Bank and was en route to A and M College to see the football game.

Francis Murray a 15 year old Indianapolis youth was fatally hurt in Houston yesterday by a fireworks bomb secreted in an old pair of overalls. He was wandering the fair grounds where a carnival company was displaying when he found the contraption.

Satterwhite Asked to Issue Call for Texas Special Session

Speaker Lee Satterwhite said impeachment could proceed if needed even if the Governor is a woman and Ferguson governs through her. He noted the Governor has until December 10 to decide on a special session and 60 House members have urged a call by December 15 with a proposed session by January 4.

Mrs Alonzo Monk Killed In Auto Wreck

Mrs Alonzo Monk Jr wife of a Methodist official died in an auto wreck between Fort Worth and Cleburne. Her daughter Mary is seriously injured and not expected to recover. James Monk 14 the driver was only slightly hurt. He said the car left the road and overturned two and a half miles north of Cleburne.

Mrs. Wheatley Buried At Steep Hollow Sunday

Funeral services were held at 3 pm at Steep Hollow Methodist Church for Mrs. Lizzie Wheatley of Steep Hollow who died Saturday night after a month illness. Rev. Jesse C. Evans Visit Former Home on Thanksgiving Day

Infant son of Mr and Mrs Mackey dies in College area

The infant son of Mr. and Mrs. A. K. Mackey of College died Thursday at 11 a m. Funeral services were held at 9 a m Friday from the McCulloch Gordon Co Chapel with interment in the City Cemetery.
