Steep Hollow School Rally Raises Funds for Library and Athletics

A large audience at Steep Hollow Public School heard principal W J Stone outline a fundraising goal to support the athletic department and library. Auctions and activities netted 40.80 dollars, with fish pond, cake, and other sales contributing. Bryan Band aided the event, and local figures including C R Garder Eck Smith Roy Hudspeth assisted to ensure a successful night.

Birthday party honors Raymond Berger on second birthday

Mrs H J Berger hosted a birthday party for her son Raymond on October 26. Guests include Charley Munday Mildred Dunn Everett Morehead Mary Ruth Smith Dave Munday Jr Ruth Dunn Junior Morehead Emma Loise Smith Jane Munday Pattie Minkert. Ice cream cake and games marked the celebration.

Masked Hallowe'en Dance Shines At Country Club

A brilliant masked Hallowe'en dance at the Country club drew over 150 participants. Ogieland Band performed in vintage costumes as gray moss and jack o lanterns adorned the hall. Refreshments of chicken salad, hot coffee, and sandwiches were served at midnight. Committees for decoration, refreshments, floor, and ticket sales led by Mrs. Tyler Haswell, Mrs. A T Potts, Sam G. Parker, and others coordinated the event.

Boyett and Elkins Wed In Quiet Methodist Rite

Saturday evening at 7 40 o clock a quiet wedding took place at the Methodist parsonage uniting Miss Lucy Elkins daughter of Mr and Mrs C R Elkins and Mr Alto Joyett of College. Rev H D Willis officiated. The couple will reside with Mr and Mrs W C Boyett in College.

Methodist Epworth League Organized

Last Friday night a small group of young people met in the annex of the Methodist church to organize an Epworth League. Provisional officers were elected and plans laid to start activities with a devotional service at 6 30 on Sunday evening. Regular services are planned for every Sunday at 6 20 in the Men’s Bible class room. All who save Methodists are invited to join or visit.

Woman's Club Notes on Bridge Bond and Fort Worth Meeting

Judge Ferguson explains the 1 009 000 bridge bond election on November 5 and asks club members to share real facts with county women. Mrs J C Nagle elected alternate to represent the lab at the state meeting of Women's Federation clubs November 14 to 19 Fort Worth. Mrs M Hettie Curry elected delegate. she also chairs the literature committee and offers a gold medal for the best original poem in the Fort Worth contest. The group viewed the medal and discussed Pinero Mid-Channel with leader Mrs R D Webb Jr and many members attending.

Brazos County Red Cross Elects New Roll Call Chairman

The Brazos County Red Cross executive board met in the secretary’s office Tuesday at 4 p m with Chairman W W Cole presiding. Major ke Ashburn was elected chairman of the 11th Red Cross Roll Call in Brazos County and will lead the campaign, bringing extensive World War II era service to the chapter. A partial relief report from flood districts near Bryan noted clothing, food, medical care, and medicine provided. full figures will appear in The Eagle. The regular annual meeting is planned for November with a nominating committee appointed to select the 1922 executive board.

Bryan High School launches lunch project on Monday

Bryan leads in Texas towns of its size by starting a school lunch program under Miss Gladys Foster. The cooking class serves hot wholesome meals at cost, with a rotating menu for 75 hungry students. Meals include veal loaf, potatoes, peas, pineapple salad, egg salad, pudding, cake, milk and more.
