Aggies Defeat Owls Highlight Rotary Breakfast Meeting

The Bryan Rotary Club luncheon on Wednesday featured Prof. K. C. Allen of Alien Academy opening remarks on Rotary tenets. Speakers included J Webb Howell on better agriculture in Brazos county and discussions on educational problems, farm loan issues, and local improvements.

Masked men wreck East Chicago newspaper plant

Four masked assailants broke into the Twin City Sentinel in East Chicago, overpowered a night watchman, and wrecked the press and linotype. Damages are estimated between 10 000 and 20 000 dollars. The Sentinel backed mayoral candidate John E Reppa and reported high election tensions after the defeat.

Sullivan Defends Ticket Distribution for Thanksgiving Game

Navasota Chamber chief seeks Bryan aid on new association

General Manager S. W. Adams of the Navasota Chamber of Commerce met in Bryan with Secretary S. E. Eberstadt of the Bryan Building and Loan Association to discuss organizing an association in Navasota. The Bryan plan is in demand across Texas as a housing builder. Mr and Mrs H R Brayton and Mrs W H Cole will drive to Houston for the Aggies Owls game and stay over Sunday with their brother. Mrs John A Moore returns from Dallas after visiting her brother G H Parks and family.

Texas will be represented at College Station on that day. Manager Sullivan organizes seating on a systematic basis and asks for citizen support. A large crowd will attend Thanksgiving Day to meet the people of Texas with cheer and local participation.

Rice freshmen meet the Terrill School on Rice Field Saturday as Terrill, coached by Pete Cawthorn, aims to challenge the undefeated newcomers. Girl rooters organize daily cheer practice ahead of the Farmers game with two dances planned for the week.

Brazos County Approves 100000 Bridge Bond Issue

In Brazos County a special election approved a 100000 bridge bond by 470 for and 337 against. The bond proceeds will retire about 41000 in warrants and leave 56000 for immediate bridge work to replace and improve the county bridges. Commissioners Edge Moore Degelia and Holland will meet Monday to begin rebuilding at once.

Conyers Livestock Association Opens Bryan Agency

The Conyers Live Stock Association chartered at Marlin for 350000 dollars and opened an agency in Bryan. Roger Q. Astin serves as vice president and W. G. Reynolds is now active in buying and shipping live stock. The move benefits Brazos County.

Knights of Pythias initiate nine at Brenham lodge

Brenham Lodge No. 10 Knights of Pythias held a major initiation with nine candidates from Bryan on Wednesday night. Brazos Lodge No. 64 Degree Team led the ceremony with Bryan officers and a full banquet follow up. Visitors from Bryan Navasota and other places registered and a K P Quartette was organized by C S Beckwith.

Several Killed in Longview Texas & Pacific Wreck

Longview Texas on November 10 reports several fatalities after a Texas & Pacific collision near the town. Physicians and ambulances rushed to the scene while wire communication was down for details. Fireman Smith is confirmed dead. Fort Worth reports C A Smith Jr fireman of the eastbound freight is missing and believed buried in wreckage after the collision seven miles west of Longview at 5:30 p.m.

Wrecks Kill and Injure on Texas Railroads

Two deadly railroad crashes reported by the Texas & Pacific division near Longview and St Delphine Louisiana left two men dead and several injured. A head on collision near Willow Springs caused more injuries and a gasoline fuel fire. US\nA separate derailment near Mulhall Oklahoma left six seriously injured when an Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe passenger train toppled over an embankment.

A Successful Coon Hunt in Automobile

A group traveling to Brenham for a Knights of Pythias event chased a ring tailed coon in Washington county. The coon climbed a tree but was eventually killed by Tom Suber and others. They displayed the animal at the K of P Hall in Brenham, praising the Ford driven chase.
