Business Women Plan Picnic Style June Meet Near Bryan

The Business and Professional Women's Club met at the Parker home to plan a picnic style gathering for June 1 in the woods near Bryan. A committee led by Blanche Brown and others will arrange menu, place, and transportation with Myrtle Murray directing the program. A nominations committee including Mary Anna Grimes and Myrtle Murray was chosen, and the group met at Aggieland Inn to finalize details. The San Angelo convention of the state BPW clubs runs June 8 to 10.

High Fat Yields By Holsteins of AM Dairy Herd

Monthly test of the Texas A and M College Holstein herd shows six cows exceeding fifty pounds of butterfat. Notables include Colantha Lad Princess with 59.4 and Colantha Queen Powell with 59.8 pounds fat. Nadine Posch Beauty Powell starts at 53.5 pounds fat. The 4-year-old Colantha Princess Tidy Segis yields 415 pounds fat in 14 days, Jewel Colantha Walker 416.3 pounds in 315 days. The 3-year-old trails but remains strong.

Rare Reptile Killed Near Kerrville

A rare snake was found killed by a Bar troop within two miles of Kerrville. The reptile was spotted in Amelia and Ai regions and killed in the middle of a road, according to local reports.

Red Cross Life Saving Expert to Visit Bryan

Lieut. N. R. Nachman announces a visit by New Campbell, senior Red Cross examiner from St. Louis, on May 22 24. Campbell will hold 9:30 10:30 a m conference at City Hall Red Cross, teach classes 8 am to 6 pm at the A and M College pool, demonstrate water first aid, and speak to Bryan schools on life saving education.

Thrips Infest Cotton Crops Reported in Brazos Burleson

Thrips have appeared in Brazos and Burleson counties with heavy migration. They attack cotton buds and unfolding leaves, killing terminal beds and causing crinkled leaves. Reports indicate boll weevils puncturing about 20 percent of squares in some fields while flea hopper conditions remain unsettled due to low rainfall.

Bryan Baritone Sings at New York Church

George Griffin a Bryan baritone living in New York City sang De Koven's setting of Kipling's Recessional at the Little Church Around the Corner on Sunday April 30 during the President's Day service. Prayers were offered for President Roosevelt and Dr Randolph Ray delivered a patriotic sermon.

Three Hi Girls Write Song for Freshman Class 1936

A committee of Peggy Stuart Sarah Watts and Mae Reed wrote the freshman class song for Stephen F. Austin high school to fit the Cornell tune. The entire class performed the composition at a recent assembly with lines praising Bryan Hi and urging unity and effort from the class of 1936. Songs mention Travis Bowie's halls and emphasize school spirit and perseverance.

Tenith Horse Show Set At College May 20

The tenth annual horse show at Texas A and M College will be held on the main drill field Saturday afternoon May 20. Major J P Wheeler announces thirteen events eight open to civilians including fine harness ladies three gaited shetland pony high action five gaited planting walk and two jumping and cowpony races. Cadets from the cavalry and field artillery will compete in several events such as an equipment race for freshmen mounted tug of war for sophomores and jumping classes for juniors and seniors.

Rebuild Thomas Home and Other City Improvements

The W. R. Thomas residence in the eastern city section, damaged by fire weeks ago, is undergoing repair remodel and enlargement. Priest of Bryan Promoted to Caldwell Church Pastorate

Rev. F. D. Urbanovsky, longtime assistant at St. Joseph's in Bryan, was named pastor of St. Mary's in Caldwell and its missions by Bishop C. E. Byrne. He led his first service May 7 and will relocate after a Bryan farewell from Rt. Rev. J. B. Gleissner and parishioners.

Texas A and M cadets will wear flowers on their uniforms during the Mothers and Dads Day observance Sunday May 14. Move Stock Illegally Charged in Tick War Case

Complaint filed in Justice Elliott's Edge court alleges two individuals moved stock from Leon to Brazos counties unlawfully and misrepresented ownership. Dr. C W Brown, tick eradication chief, notes one defendant pleaded guilty while the other faces trial on May 13.
