Bryan Chamber opposes Graves-Woodruff and highway bills
The Bryan and Brazos County Chamber of Commerce directors announced opposition to two Texas senate bills. They argued the Graves Woodruff reorganization plan would not yield expected savings for A and M College and would centralize power in the executive branch. They also opposed the elective highway bill and planned a Brazos county delegation to the Highway Commission for funding of secondary highways. They referred a matter on door to door and truck selling to the Trade Extension committee.

Man of Wellborn Passes in Night
John Henry Gandy a veteran Brazos county farmer from Wellborn died in his bed Tuesday at 6 oclock after a long history of heart attacks. He was born October 2 1867 in Mississippi and was 65 years 7 months and 4 days old. Funeral Wednesday at 4 from the Wellborn home with Rev. R L Brown. Interment in Wellborn cemetery. Surviving are his widow two sons Monroe and William and four daughters Ida Mae Maxine Mack Chappell and Mrs H L Wilson all of College Station and Wellborn residents. Also two brothers W E Roy and four sisters living in Wellborn Bryan and College Station.

A new torrent of water swept southward causing at least 17 deaths and heavy property damage in upper regions. The floods threaten tributaries in Mississippi Arkansas and Tennessee as Missouri reported two deaths yesterday and fifteen other fatalities are credited to the upper Ohio river basin.
