Cordell Hull Rising in Roosevelts Cabinet Circle

Cordell Hull, Tennessee politician and former representative and senator, emerged as secretary of state in the Roosevelt administration. Described as able and experienced, Hull is noted for his tariff expertise and advocacy of reciprocal reductions to aid global economic recovery. Aggie coaching school to run Aug 20 26 at College Station

The fourth annual Texas Aggie coaching school will run August 20 to 26 at Texas A and M College. Designed for high school coaches and PE instructors, it will be free aside from modest room and board. Flea Hoppers Scarce Yet Weevil Damage Grows in Valley

Dr. F L Thomas reports flea hoppers are scarce in southern Texas due to light rainfall but remain a threat where fall conditions favored reproduction. Over 2000 hoppers hatched after moisture from goatweed. Weather data show April rainfall well below normal, while boll weevils are injuring early cotton in the Lower Rio Grande Valley.

Brazos County Girl Found Near Calvert After Missing 24 Hours

Nellie Warner, 22, daughter of a farmer on the Egbert Jones farm, was found in a ditch near Calvert after being missing since Wednesday. She said she got lost while searching for a cow and had been given a lift by three men in an automobile. Sheriff J. H. Reed and deputies investigated but found no foul play. Warner’s family retrieved her in Bryan.
