Funeral Sunday For Pioneer Of Robertson County

Funeral services for Patrick Henry Love 85 years old were held Sunday at the family home in Franklin with interment in Franklin cemetery. Born September 11, 1848 in Tehnacana Tallard, he was a son of the late Judge David A Love and Mary Dana Robertson, part of Texas pioneer days. Surviving are his widow Laura Love and daughter Esme Reynolds of Franklin, three grandchildren, two sisters in Bryan and Wichita Falls, with many Bryan relatives attending.

City to remit penalties on March bills for light and water

City commissioners, citing cash shortages from the bank holiday, vote to remit penalties on March light and water bills paid by today. A plan by Bryan physicians and surgeons to create a $2000 fund for hospital and medical services at Wilkerson Memorial Clinic is referred to a joint finance committee with county officials.

Prize Gobbler Dies in Childress After Following Owner

A five-year-old prize-winning bronze turkey gobbler famous on Childress streets for trailing his owner Jim Stodghill like a dog died recently. The bird gained local renown for its unusual companionship throughout the town.

Fire Companies Elect Officers On Monday Night

The Bryan Volunteer Fire department held its annual election night for two companies. Protection Engine No. 1 chose W J Blazek as president and W S House as vice president with Ray Pippin as foreman and Jno J Stasny as secretary. Delegates to the state convention and a five officer delegation were named. Chemical No. 2 elected W B Saunders as president and R B Cowart as vice president with V J Head as foreman and C E Jenkins as secretary treasurer. Delegates to state convention were Frank Cash and H J Berger. House Rules committees were also chosen.

Training Course For Scout Work Planned at A&M

The rural sociology department at A and M College in cooperation with the Houston Area Council and Southwest Regional Office of the Boy Scouts of America will offer a scout leader training course starting Wednesday night March 15 at the Zoo Lake YMCA lodge. No registration fee. a scout master's diploma will be awarded on completion. Daniel Russell, head of rural sociology, urges Bryan residents to attend by noon March 15.

Bryan Girl Scouts Meet On Friday Night

Troops 2 and 3 held a business meeting and program at the American Legion home. After pledges and promises, knot tying contests and games followed. A special service is planned Sunday morning at the Episcopal church for International Girl Scouts Birthday Month.

Mrs Cloud Returns Home After Appendicitis Surgery

Mrs. R. G. C. Cloud has recovered from an appendicitis operation performed last Thursday and has been moved from the hospital to her home on West Sterling Avenue.
