Prairie View nurse hired as Brazos County health aide

The Brazos County Health Committee met to hire a Negro health nurse from Prairie View for two months at fifty dollars a month, with a year if funds allow. The February report shows 102 carried cases, 108 active, 8 referred to physicians, 84 total health sessions, and 28 defective pupils among 273 classroom inspections.

W Harold Kinney of the Walker Stock Company Cincinnati formerly Bryan resident visits to see relatives. The 21 year old actor trained under Stuart Walker in Texas and Cincinnati, gaining acclaim for roles like Cyril Mortimer in The Thunderbolt. After Bryan visit he heads to New York then Cincinnati for spring and summer engagement.

District Rotary splits into three new sections

The Thirteenth Rotary district ends its two day session in Galveston with three new district governors named Walter D. Cline Sid Hardin and Bruce Bogarte for districts 41 47 and 48. The next district governor will be elected at the 1925 international meeting in Cleveland succeeding Harry Rogers of San Antonio.

Courthouse Force to Challenge Teachers for Punkin Ball Game

Brazos County court house staff led by J W Barron county attorney Oak McKenzie and Judge J W Hamilton challenge Superintendent Madison Hall and Principal C M Bethany to a punkin ball game to be held at an arbitration determined time. The proposed venue may be the courthouse lawn with a 5 pm start and proceeds to benefit the school or courthouse workers. The game uses indoor soft large balls and a ten cent bat, offering light recreation and a chance to raise a dime from spectators.

Echoes of Galveston Convention Reported by Rotary Club

The Bryan Rotary Club met at noon with singing led by S Moylan Bird and dinner. Members D L Wilson Gabe Cazell Gene Humbert Dr Jne W Black H H Williamson Kay Hassell and Mayor Tyler Haswell reported on the Galveston district 13 meeting praising its inspiration and urging better attendance. They noted plans to form committees for a 1926 firemen’s convention and to attend a Reliance community club meeting, while Gabe Cazell urged land for a children skating rink.

Good Roads Meet Program Outlined For Houston Event

Houston hosts the United States Good Roads Association and partners from April 20 to 25. Governors and senators join governors E Lee Trinkle and J A Rountree in outlining speeches on road building maintenance financing and beautification. The Houston Municipal Auditorium will showcase road equipment and Bureau of Public Roads displays. The session includes a dedication of a remodeled auditorium and a San Jacinto Battle Grounds celebration with extensive entertainment planned by the Houston Chamber of Commerce.
