County considers funding full-time Negro nurse for Brazos county

A Brazos county health board committee led by Mrs. A H Leidigh presented a plan to finance a full-time Negro health nurse. Contributions include 250 from Mr Howell, 300 from Black residents via local physicians, 150 from Bryan city, and 300 from the county. If $1,000 yearly is raised, the State Bureau of Hygiene will match to $2,000 annually.

Millican Farmer Hurt in Auto Smashup on College Avenue

C. D. Davis, Millican farmer, was struck by a Ford touring car while driving a lumber wagon on College Avenue. The crash smashed two wagon wheels and tore the tongue. Davis suffered a wrenching shoulder injury. The car fled. County Attorney Oak McKenzie will contact Galveston tax officials to identify the owner.

Nightwatchman kidnapped during bank vault robbery attempt

In Sanger on March 11 robbers failed to force open the Guaranty State Bank vault. They tied night-watchman Pack Hampton to a tree in nearby woods before dawn and released him after the acetylene torch broke. Hampton said four men and a woman were involved and had held him prisoner inside the bank until moving him to the timber.

Golden Rule Poultry Farm Leads Egg Laying Contest
