The Bryan Parent-Teachers Association met January 22 1926 at the high school to review reports and plan a February membership drive. Officers and committees were appointed for ticket sales and the annual drive, with dues set at 50 cents.

Leaders Win Second Game From A M With 19 17

In College Station on January 26 Oklahoma A and M defeated Texas A and M 19 to 17 after two overtime periods. Captain Washburn starred for Texas, while Peery hit the decisive shot for the visitors. Kyle contributed seven points for the Aggies as the game stretched to extra minutes.

May wheat tops $7 as early trading peaks

Chicago January 28 May wheat rose above seven dollars a bushel after the Board of Trade opened. The price, except for 1916 to 1921, was the highest for immediate delivery since 1868 when wheat sold at 2.20 a bushel.

Five Methodist Missionary groups report strong attendance

The Woman's Missionary Society met in five groups Monday afternoon at members' homes. Group 1 had five members with 30 visits to the sick and 82 Bible chapters read. Group 2 had seven members with three calls to the sick and 34 chapters read. Group 3 reported 13 members, 111 chapters read, and 79 visits, plus a Bible study on Paul. Group 4 opened with psalm 19 and roll call. members studied Paul with a Bible lesson. Group 5, at Mr and Mrs Gibbs home, hosted 17 members and two visitors with a social hour and devotional led by Nat Allen.

Bryan Junior Band Organized Under Rev Bruni Martinelli

The Bryan Junior Band organized by Rev Bruno Martinelli, pastor of the Italian Methodist church, lists members led by manager George Nedbalek and director Rev Bruno Martinelli. Rehearsals set for January 28 at 7:00 pm in a Sunday School room at the Italian Methodist church. Rev Martinelli volunteers service free of charge.

E. F. Parks Finds Furniture Market Slightly Lower

E F Parks returned from a three weeks buying trip to Northern and Eastern markets. He spent two days with his daughter at Denton. Dealers across regions showed brisk but cautious buying and a generally optimistic trade mood. Prices trended lightly down from last season as he secured desired goods for passing along to customers.

Benefits of a County Library Discussed by Brazos Clubs

The Brazos County Federation of Rural Clubs met at Carnegie Library in Bryan on Saturday at 2:30 p m. Mrs Pp S Mangum presided and welcomed club representatives and visitors. A program of music talks and papers followed with Miss Regal and Emma and Frances Benson performing. Mrs R B Hearne urged library benefits in a round table discussion and the meeting encouraged countywide library plans. Meetings occur monthly on the fourth Saturday at 2:30 p m.

Christian Endeavor Houston District Meet in Bryan

All Christian Endeavor societies of the Houston district will convene in Bryan for a spring convention March 6 to 8 at the Free Baptist church. Delegations are planned from local societies across the district. Bryan church organizers are Mr and Mrs Walter Holmes Miss Ora Buchanan Miss Lena Wooten Parker Carroll and Earl Tatum. Woman's Auxiliary Delights in Meeting at First Presbyterian

The Woman's Auxiliary of the First Presbyterian Church held a delightful Monday meeting led by Circle No 1 president Mrs A W Exsamel. Brazos Health Committee Starts Preschool Child Clinic

Brazos County Health Committee approved a new twice monthly clinic for preschool children to be held in the county courthouse nurse's office from 2 to 5 p.m. under the direction of Dr. and nurse Miss Elizabeth Curtis. The first clinic on January 22 drew strong turnout from Bryan and rural areas. The next date will be announced in the Eagle.

Donatella Elizabeth Slaughter of Reliance died Friday morning at age 67 from pneumonia. The body was prepared by E F Parks Co. and interred in the local cemetery Saturday afternoon.

Robert B. Goodson Dies at Riverside at 72

Robert Burton Goodson, 72, died Wednesday night at 6 o'clock at the family homestead in Riverside, ten miles southwest of Bryan. He never married and is survived by his mother Mrs. L. M. Goodson, sister Mrs. Mary Ewing, and brothers W. T. Goodson and J. M. Goodson. Funeral services were held at 3:30 p.m. today with burial in the family cemetery. He was born in Arkansas and moved to Texas as a child, living in Riverside ever since.

Bryan High School Enters Lincoln Medallion Contest

Thomas heads to New York to buy for The Fair store

Bryan businessman W R Thomas proprietor of The Fair leaves on the I G N train for St Louis with about 40 other store owners to go to New York City market. The group will pay cash and use 10 to 12 experts to secure low prices for goods to stock The Fair with competitively priced merchandise. Thomas plans a three week trip returning mid February.

Poll taxes and car tag registrations in county report

County Tax Collector J. Marion Ferguson reports 2400 poll tax receipts issued by noon and about 2200 car tags registered with roughly 1000 cars awaiting new tags. City Secretary Guy P. Bittle notes 281 women and 268 men signed for poll tax receipts totaling 549. The final payment date is Saturday January 31 with extended hours.
