In Austin on January 21, Governor Miram A Ferguson started her duties after a festive inauguration. She greeted congratulatory messages and planned a meeting with railroad interests led by T A Hamilton of the International and Great Northern. Her first legislative message was due later today in a joint session.

Junior Missionary Society Meets at Methodist Church

The Junior Missionary Society held its regular Sunday morning meeting in the church annex during preaching hour and after Sunday school. Mrs D P Gaby supervised. twelve sick visits and four bouquet deliveries were reported. Ollie Ruth Shaw was elected pianist and Mildred McKenzie secretary. Next lesson depends on material arrival.

Frank's Mother Dies at Home

Mrs. R. C. Franks died at home early today as son Franks, then at Prescott Arkansas, telegraphed to inform. Funeral services are set for Thursday at 10 a.m. Mrs Franks had left by the 12:27 H. T. C. train to join him, and Bryan friends extend prayers and sympathy.

Sims Barn Burns Down on South Bryan Street

A barn behind M. W. Sims home on South Bryan street was destroyed by fire shortly after 1 PM. Origin unknown. Fire department responded but the structure was nearly lost before discovery. Sims had just loaded hay and left for Brazos Bottom. no one was home. Estimated loss several hundred dollars with no insurance.

A church explosion Sunday badly burned H. S. Haltom and his three year old daughter. The incident prompted emergency response and investigation into cause.

H S Haltom and his 3 year old daughter Frances suffered serious burns when a supposed oil fire exploded after he lit a blaze at the Christian church in Benchley. Haltom drove nine miles to Bryan hospital in 15 minutes despite severe burns as his daughter’s condition remained serious.

Safe blown open at Walnut Springs bank robbery

Jan. 21 Walnut Springs First Guaranty State Bank was robbed last night. Thieves blew open a small vault safe and took about 500 dollars in notes while a second safe containing securities and about 1000 dollars was untouched. Total loss including securities may reach 17000 dollars. New clues tied to the suspects were reported today.

Old Texas family member charged in Chester Farley murder
