Miss Laura Belle Roten home demonstration agent met with Kurten club girls on Thursday. Twenty two girls attended and worked in three classes as the 1925 program began. Sewing class produced bags aprons gowns while neatness and skill were stressed in home sewing.
The Bryan Fire Department re elected C. E. Jenkins as chief A. K. Brown as assistant chief and Tom G. Jenkins as secretary. Brown won the 1924 best attendance badge. A 1925 contest continues. Delegates to the State Association were named and plans were set to host the 50th State Firemen’s Association meeting in 1926.
John T Leathers aged 76 died Sunday night at his daughter S H Seales Benchley home after long illness. Funeral held Monday at 3 pm at Alexander church with Rev H H House officiating. Burial in Alexander cemetery. Survived by three daughters S H Seale of Benchley T Elliott of Edge and F M Wallace of Cleveland. Born in Tennessee he moved to Texas as a youth and was a prosperous Edge area farmer in Brazos County.
The Cantavespe combined store and residence burned at about 8 am, causing an estimated loss of 10 000 dollars. The stock valued at 6500 dollars with 3250 insured. the residence furniture valued around 600 with 150 saved. Firefighters prevented spread to nearby buildings and earned praise for 100 percent dispatch.
Bryan representatives J. D. Martin president and Dan Scoates secretary of College Station left for Dallas to attend the twenty seventh annual Texas Hardware and Implement Association gathering. The meeting opens January 20 at 10 a.m. at the Adolphus Hotel and runs through Wednesday.

W S Dixon of Hereford visits Brazos County to see old friends in Bryan and Wellborn. He traveled with Mrs Dixon and son O H Dixon and wife, plans to pass through Galveston but rain altered plans. Dixon's Castro County farming operation spans 36 000 acres with wheat output of 11 000 bushels last year. He formerly wrote for the Eagle and will resume writing for the Eagle staff.
Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Looney and their children of Branchville travel to Bryan to attend the funeral of their friend Mrs. E. E. McAdams scheduled for tomorrow afternoon at three o clock.
