Hunter’s quail in pocket springs to life and escapes

Ernest Elliott, hunting with Norman Stewart, fired two wild shots at a bird he believed dead. The quail had been in Elliott’s coat pocket and suddenly flew out, leaving Elliott jokingly nicknamed Nimrod as friends enjoy the tale. The incident occurred after both hunters bagged several quail on opposite sides of a timber strip.
