Good Cheer Association Receives Record Christmas Donations

The Bryan Good Cheer Association reports 440 contributions totaling 1426.25 and an $800 treasury balance. The drive, not yet finished, is expected to surpass 1500 and push the year’s support beyond 2000 to aid the needy in Bryan and Brazos county. Nearly 500 approached, only 10 or 15 gave nothing.

More than 100 pictures of basketball, baseball and football teams are framed and hung in the hall of the men's gymnasium at the University of Texas. L Theo Bellmont, dean of the College of Physical Activities, notes the collection began in 1914 with a 350 donation from H J Lutcher Stark. Western Public Service Buys Conroe Utility Network

W E Farmer district superintendent for the Western Public Service Company says the firm has purchased the Conroe electric plant ice plant and cotton gin. The plan calls for a overhaul and transmission links to a central station serving Rosse to Hempstead Navesota to Conroe and South with a line from Somerville to Caldwell. The company surveys five more nearby plants for potential purchase and Texas headquarters are at Navasota with Paul Freeman as division superintendent.

The grade sections of the Parent- Teachers Associations held a successful social meeting in Carnegie Library on Thursday afternoon from 3 to 5 o'clock. Valley View Gang Loots Wise County Towns

The bank and most stores in Paradise Wise County were looted overnight by the Valley View gang suspected of previous Valley View arson. Six stores the post office and railroad station were entered. Lawler Sells College Highway Property for 18000

Mrs. H. T. Lawler transferred her home and about 13 acres on College Highway to J. H. Nash and Douglas Howell in a deal reported by Jordan T. Lawler. The $18,000 transaction is the largest on College Road this week. Possession remains with the Lawlers until spring. Jordan will stay in Bryan and Mrs. Lawler may move to San Antonio.

C E Jenkins of this city, a contractor and fire department chief, entered 14 White Leghorns in the Waco poultry show. The event began Wednesday and ran through Thursday and today, with Jenkins earning ribbons for his birds.
