The Tuesday Chamber of Commerce session in Bryan yielded no major business due to the proximity of month end. President Lawrence said the state highway engineer had not arrived yet to visit Pitts Bridge with him, while S E Eberstadt reported $25 awarded to Cliff Lopez for club work and planned future use.

The Federated Church Societies gathered at the Firet Gorget church on a Monday afternoon for a regular meeting. Officers for 1926 were elected with Mrs. M Hetty Curry as president and Mrs. P S Park as vice president. The group endorsed inviting the College Avenue Baptist church Woman's Missionary Union as part of the Federation and discussed drafting resolutions to support the United States joining the World Court.

New Piano Installed At Harvey School Auditorium

Harvey school and community auditorium on the second floor houses a fine new piano funded by boosters. Proceeds from a play Nobody's Darling, a buffet luncheon, and a Texas Bakery cake auction paid most of it. The Allen Band performed a 25 piece concert as part of the evening.

Missouri Deputy Sheriff Visits Sister in Bryan

George Allbright deputy sheriff of Jackson county Missouri is visiting in Bryan at the home of his sister Mrs T R Nelson and family on a return trip from Laredo where he transported Mexican prisoners from Kansas City to the border for delivery to Mexican authorities He will depart Bryan tomorrow.

Mrs. Victoria Barr Dies at 64 in Bryan

Mrs. Victoria Barr aged 64 years 11 months 2 days died Friday evening at 5 45 at her son Sam Barr home after a four week illness. Funeral held Saturday at 4 pm from the family residence conducted by Rev Francisco Zito with burial in Bryan City Cemetery. McCulloch Gordon Co directed. Texas Aggies Win 1925 Southwest Conference Title

The Texas A&M Aggies drubbed Texas 28 to 0 on Thanksgiving Day to clinch the 1925 Southwest Conference championship with four wins and one loss. Texas Longhorns and T C U Horned Frogs tied for second with two wins, one loss, and one tie. Aggies scored 65 points in conference play, a dominant edge over other teams.

Baptists to Open B Y P U Training School

Beginning Sunday December 8 the College Avenue Baptist church will launch its first B Y P U Training School. Gardner is general secretary of the State B Y P U, Miss Ethel Hudson and Mrs J W Wiley will assist with teaching. Mrs Haltom Dies After Illness in Bryan

Velma Haygood Haltom 26 died Monday at 7 p m at her East 24th street home after a brief illness. She was born December 29 1898 at Benchley and is survived by her husband Van Haltom their six year old son Donald her mother Susie Haygood two brothers J W Haygood and W B Haygood and sister Mrs C Buckhanks. Funeral was held Tuesday at 3 p m from the home with McCulloch Gordon Undertakers in charge. Interment in Seale's Cemetery near Benchley.

Lions Club Hosts Allen Academy Football Team and Coaches

The Allen Academy football team and coaches were guests at the Bryan Lions Club weekly luncheon. Coach Hudson introduced players and assistant coach Dansby praised the team as hard fighters and worthy of a championship. The 1924 statisters show divorces up 5 percent from 1923, with total divorces for the year 1924 plus district insights. In Brazos county marriages rose to 486 from 419 in 1923, a 12 percent increase, and three counties show 125 marriages in 1924 versus 96 in 1923.
