Hempstead Farmer Dies In Accidental Gun Incident
James Weaver a farmer near Hempstead accidentally killed himself while cleaning an old pistol in his home. It is believed a cartridge exploded when he tried to pry it from the cylinder. He died about three hours later and was buried at Courtney with Baptist ministers officiating. Hempstead Lodge No. 749 A F and A M, of which he was a longtime member, conducted the burial service.
